How Should be a project report: Solved

Many of the students get confused during their academic career on how should be a project report. Well, I was one of them, but not to worry  a bit of study and research will provide you the right solution, here I am providing you the details of how should be a project report.
A Standard project report should be consist of following topics and their subtopics:-

1.2 Necessity
1.3 Objective
1.4 Theme 
1.5 organization

2. LITERATURE SURVEY

3. SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT
3.1 Hardware description
3.2 cost of project
3.3 advantages

5 CONCLUSION

5.1 Conclusion

5.3 Future scope

  • Now we will see each chapter or topics in detail.


What is Introduction?
  • It is a brief intro of your project, like we have our brief Intro on social network like Facebook or other social networking sites.
  •  It consist of, necessity or need, objective, and if you have any theme behind your project then the theme. 
  • The organization part consist of how your report is organized.
  •   Introduction should be 2 to 3 pages long.

What is Literature survey?
  • Literature survey is nothing but a history about your project topic.
  • Literature survey is the research made by you on your topic.
  • One should mention contributors or researcher of their topic who had made some research and contribution and their work about the topic.
  • One can also mention the ongoing work on their topic.
  • In simple words you have to mention family background of your topic in this section.
  • It should be 10 to 15 pages long, you can add more pages if you want.

What is system development?
  • This is the important part of your project report, and you cannot "copy- paste" this..!
  • System development consist of, the components you have used, and their details like specification, input-output, characteristics, performance, advantage, etc.
  • Block diagram and circuit diagram should be given in this section.
  • Advantages and the cost of your project should be in this section.
  • It should be 5-10 pages long, but it can vary project to project.


What is system analysis?
  • This topic also cannot be copy and paste. You have to work on this and its definitely going to benefit you, believe me..!
  • It consist of journey of your project. How you started? What difficulties you faced? What solutions you found? Test you performed and their results, calculations and the whole analysis of your project.
  • You can add photographs of your project in this section. (I would recommend to do so)
  • Page limit for this section also varies project to project, standard page limit is 5-10 pages.


What is conclusion?
  • What was your aim? And what is your result? That is your conclusion..!
  • Application of your project and what is the future scope for the project, should be mentioned in this section.
  • It can be 2 to 4 pages long.

References
  • References should be true (examiner can caught you in a second if you made fake ones so, be careful) and should be in proper format.
  • Proper format for references is as follows:

[Ref. no]  Author’s name- year of publication- title of work/paper/article/book (in capital) -     location- publisher.
  • In case of website:

[ref.no] link of the website – title – accessed on: date and time.
  • If you are using patent then patent number should be mentioned.



Tips:

  • Don’t copy past. (Literature survey is exception)
  • Make different word files for: 1.first 4 pages (title, certificate, acknowledgment and abstract)

3. Main body of report
  • This will avoid disturbing your report every time you edit.
  • Don’t print the word file because it can get disturbed while printing, to avoid this convert the word file into pdf format.
  • For header-footer and page border ask your project guide.
  • Don’t give page numbers to first 4 pages and index.
  • Start page numbers form chapter 1 i.e. introduction.
  • Page margins should be: left- 1.5                 right- 0.5  

Top- 1                    bottom- 1
  • Don’t leave any blank space.
  • Justify all document.
  • Font should be times new roman and font size should be 12 and for headings 14 or 16.
